The Rock Your Baby story began in 2002 when sisters Johanne Walsh and Caroline Nesbitt, frustrated at the lack of hip, fun, affordable clothes to buy for their own babies, opened a stall at Sydney's Bondi markets selling a small range of quirky printed onesies and t-shirts, made in a makeshift studio set up in Johanne's lounge room. Apparently they weren't the only mums looking for kids' clothes with more a rock and roll edge. The response to their designs was immediate and overwheming. Since the days of that market stall, Rock Your Baby has grown into a fully-fledged kids' fashion label catering for newborns up to 7 year-olds. The original graphics driven t-shirts of course, remain a brand signature but today Rock Your Baby is equally famous for its chic little dresses and distinctive mini-hipster denims. Rock Your Baby jeans particularly, with their on-trend grown-up styling but kid-friendly comfort and toughness, have developed an intensely loyal cult following.
While Rock Your Baby is rocking the world, available throughout Australia and New Zealand, Europe, the US, Japan and the Middle East, the label remains very much a family concern. Johanne and Caroline still design every piece of every collection, running their growing international business with the help of a small and dedicated team from a warehouse near their homes in Sydney's beautiful Blue Mountains. Now the first Rock Your Baby babies are almost teens, and today the label's regular customers include some of the world's most famous media, music and movie stars but the RYB sisters' design brief remains the same: to make high quality, fun, funny, cutting edge kids' fashion available to every mum whose taste is just that little bit more rock and roll.
